Mechanical polishing relies on the grinding and rolling action of very small polishing powder to remove extremely thin metal on the surface of the sample. Polishing is often used to enhance the appearance of products, prevent contamination of instruments, remove oxidation, create a reflective surface, or prevent corrosion. 3.Features and principle
The function of polishing is to reduce the surface roughness of the workpiece so as to get bright and smooth surface. This paper mainly explains the characteristics and principles of mechanical polishing for you.
Mechanical polishing is the modification and deburring of workpiece surface by using flexible polishing tools and abrasive particles. Polishing can not improve the dimensional accuracy or geometric accuracy of workpiece, but to obtain smooth surface or mirror gloss. Mechanical polishing relies on the grinding and rolling action of very small polishing powder to remove extremely thin metal on the surface of the sample.
During mechanical polishing, the polishing wheel on the polishing machine rotates at a high speed. The operator presses the surface of the polished piece on the polishing wheel with appropriate pressure. The high temperature is produced by the friction effect, which makes the polished surface easily deformed and form a layer of "processed metamorphic layer". Under the action of rotating friction, some of the convex parts of the surface are cut off on the one hand, and the surface of the metal parts will also produce plastic deformation. Polishing is usually used as a polishing tool for mechanical polishing. The polishing wheel is usually made of multi-layer canvas, non woven fabric, felt or leather, and the two sides are clamped with metal circular plates, and the flange is applied to the polishing agent, which is made of fine powder and grease.
